Machine Saw Operator

We are seeking candidates with at least 2 years of saw operation experience, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will not only operate the machine but will also handle inventory control for each work order. This includes utilizing mathematical skills for inventory tracking, reading rulers, and interpreting blueprints to operate the saws according to specifications. The materials handled are cut to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced setting, thus requiring candidates with adequate experience in this field.

Responsibilities

  • Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications.
  • Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition.
  • Maintain processing area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Complete all required information entry accurately.
  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing.
  • Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
  • Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
  • Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements.
  • Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes or clarification to orders.
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Properly enter and delete material identification tags per written instructions.
  • Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
  • Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
  • Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put oneself or others in an unsafe situation.
  • Train others when required.
  • Assist in any activities related to lean and quality.

Essential Skills

  • Certified in material handler position.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Perform basic math skills.
  • Saw operation experience.
  • Inventory control skills.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Blueprint reading skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry.
  • Use of handheld measuring tools.
  • Computer literacy.

Work Environment

The work environment includes warehouse and production settings, with multiple shifts available: 1st shift from 6am-2pm, 2nd shift from 2pm-10pm, and 3rd shift from 10pm-6am. Most MCO and Shipping roles follow standard hours from 8am-4:30pm. The role requires operation in a clean, safe, and orderly manner, adhering to safety protocols and efficient work practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.20 - $22.20/hr.
