The Controls Engineer IV will be responsible for leading and delivering high-quality Protection and Control designs for transmission and distribution substations, data centers, industrial facilities, and energy storage systems.
This role focuses on protection schemes, relay systems, IEC-based communication, and coordination across engineering, field, and customer teams.
Requirement/Must Have:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum five years of experience in protection schemes, relay selection, and protection systems for transmission, distribution, and generation substations.
Strong experience with IEC61850 process and system bus architecture and its implementation.

Experience performing DC battery and charger sizing, voltage drop calculations, auxiliary AC power design, and defining CT and PT or CCVT parameters.
Experience preparing Protection and Control engineering estimates and equipment quantities.
bility to perform engineering and constructability reviews of deliverables.
Experience creating and supporting FAT, SAT, outage, and cutover plans and supporting field testing and commissioning.
Experience:
Five or more years of experience in power system protection and control engineering.
Responsibilities:
Develop and review high-quality protection schemes including one-line, three-line, AC and DC schematics, and relay settings.
Lead a design team to create protection and control drawings including diagrams, schematics, wiring, panel layouts, and cable schedules.
Evaluate protection relays, interoperability, communication protocols, and SCADA and cybersecurity integration.
Coordinate with electrical layout engineers, relay engineers, site managers, and commissioning teams.
Interface with customers, vendors, and manufacturers to resolve technical issues.
Prepare engineering estimates and support project execution to meet cost, schedule, safety, and quality goals.
Perform design calculations and support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
Conduct peer reviews of protection and control deliverables.
Support engineering leadership in improving standards, quality, and productivity.
Should Have:
P.E. license or EIT with willingness to pursue licensure.
Experience with power system analysis tools such as ETAP or Aspen Oneliner.
Familiarity with NERC-CIP standards and grid interconnection requirements.
