Waste Connections is looking for an experienced and talented Diesel Mechanic to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet of diesel vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and manage maintenance and repair tasks for diesel vehicles, prioritizing to minimize downtime and enhance fleet efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough diagnostic assessments of diesel engines and drivetrain systems to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Perform intricate repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies, fostering a culture of safety awareness among the team.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities accurately using digital systems to maintain equipment history.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge with team members to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Execute various mechanical tasks, including installing injectors, repairing transmissions, and more.
  • Support the maintenance department by undertaking additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Technical training in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy diesel mechanic.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, including Cummins Insite and Mack Tech Tool.
  • Solid understanding of diesel engine components and systems with the ability to interpret technical materials.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills and attention to detail, able to manage time and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with regulations.
