The saw operator is responsible for pulling material, verifying, and processing material through band saws and plate saws. The operator will be responsible to perform all work order requirements, meeting all production lead time and quality control measures, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Physical requirements include walking, using hands/fingers to handle or feel, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking/hearing, seeing, pushing or pulling, and reaching or repetitive motion.
Function in the job involves medium/heavy work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Job functions include setting up and operating band saws to cut aluminum, alloy, stainless steels, titanium, and other exotic metals to specified dimensions, reading work orders for specifications, retrieving material and transferring stock to band saws manually, with forklift, or by crane, installing saw blades in band saws and setting blade cutting speed for specified operation, removal of band saw blades, inputting data to set band saw parameters based on shop work order specifications, manually positioning material using back stops in band saw, turning valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area, operating band saws and observing cutting operation, measuring work for conformance to specifications, marking identifying data on product, moving material with forklift, moving material with crane, data input into computer inventory system, following all quality inspections and quality requirements in regard to work orders and Quality Procedure Manual, following all work instructions pertaining to job, following all JSAs for equipment worked, and following all safety procedures.
