Job Title: Structural Design Engineer
Job Description
As a Structural Design Engineer, you will investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions. You will author temporary engineering solutions to resolve build issues promptly and handle the disposition of aircraft non-conformances, including providing rework instructions (MRB). You will perform investigations on aircraft and engineering drawings and coordinate with various engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and operations manufacturing representatives. Additionally, you will design Flight Test engineering change requests and coordinate with work package owners. Your role will involve authoring engineering instructions to define structural special instructions or restrictions, as well as designing and releasing Special Missions Engineering structural and systems installations.
Responsibilities
Investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering solutions.
Author temporary engineering solutions to resolve build issues.
Handle disposition of aircraft non-conformances with rework instructions.
Perform investigations on aircraft and engineering drawings.
Coordinate with various engineering disciplines and representatives.
Design Flight Test engineering change requests.
Author engineering instructions for structural special instructions or restrictions.
Design and release Special Missions Engineering structural and systems installations.
Essential Skills
15 years of primary/secondary design experience on aircraft.
Proficient in CATIA V5 with at least 6,000 hours of experience.
Experience in Special Missions or Aftermarket modifications.
Experience in supporting manufacturing and aircraft modifications.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline.
Must meet US ITAR requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with munitions integrations is an asset.
Recent experience with 2D drawings is required.
Proficiency in CATIA V5 Workbenches: Assembly Design, Part Design, Aerospace Sheetmetal, Tubing Design, Kinematics, and Electrical Harness Routing are a plus.
Experience with Teamcenter PLM is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly motivated self-starter.
Work Environment
The role operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM in an office setting, supporting a long-term contract with a large Aerospace and Defense Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in Wichita.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
