Provide end-of-life support to patients and families through Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. They have a very high need for volunteers and have a variety of roles to choose from! Most require specific training and are all very rewarding. All opportunities (except sewing) do require an education process with 9-12 hours of orientation which are divided into two to three sessions. All orientation sessions are completed in small group settings following CDC COVID-19 protocols. All volunteer opportunities with HHMH require being fully vaccinated against COVID, the flu, and passing a background check. Help with patient/family support, pharmacy delivery, clerical support, provide companionship/refreshments and office support at the inpatient unit, provide bedside comfort for those crossing over, help in the memory garden, provide education about HHMH at health/education fairs, sew/knit goods, or serve as a healing presence with the bereaved.
