GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Facility Monitor will assist in providing a safe and secure environment through building and establishing positive relationships with members, guests and staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPIERENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum age 21 required
• Previous work experience in a traditional law enforcement agency or school environment required
• Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
• Must maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications; must obtain within 60 days of hire

• Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs and freely and quickly move around facility
• Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times

• Ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups; both oral and written
• Ability to calmly and effectively de-escalate situations involving angry or upset members and guests
• Ability to handle all questions/concerns and resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgement; and the desire to work with all ages, especially children
• Ability to foster positive relationships with members and program participants

• Provide excellent customer service to everyone that enters the facility
• Be visible to staff and members
• Conduct routine building walk-throughs of assigned areas
• Understand and enforce the branch policies and procedures
• Provide clear and consistent expectations for behavior; set firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary. Support and demonstrate discipline practices in accordance with YMCA policies. Inform supervisor of any concerns or situations.
• Ensure that all members, guests and program participants are relating to each other, the equipment and facility in a positive manner
• Follow all risk management guidelines according to branch policies and procedures and be prepared to implement emergency procedures
• Prepare an accurate and complete Facility Monitor report daily to be turned in to Senior Program Director
• Prepare accurate and complete incident reports in a timely manner
• Respond to security and emergency situations while remaining calm and professional
• Must work evening and weekend coverage
• All other duties as assigned
